As a College we marked the beginning of the Academic Year with a Celebration of the Eucharist, led by our Parish Priest Monsignor Ron on Monday 9th February. The theme for the College Mass was “Your works, O Lord, are justice and truth.”
The readings of the mass focused on our role as a Catholic Community and our relationship with God and with others.
The Gospel reading taken from St John. [21:15-17]
When they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?” He said to him, “Yes, Lord; you know that I love you.” Jesus said to him, “Feed my lambs.” A second time he said to him, “Simon son of John, do you love me?” He said to him, “Yes, Lord; you know that I love you.” Jesus said to him, “Tend my sheep.” He said to him the third time, “Simon son of John, do you love me?” Peter felt hurt because he said to him the third time, “Do you love me?” And he said to him, “Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you.” Jesus said to him, “Feed my sheep."
In Father Ron’s homily he challenged students to really hear these words as Jesus’ teachings. We are called to do God’s work with one another. Through our growth in faith we are nourished to be a person for others. To continue developing our relationship with Jesus.
Thank you to Monsignor Ron, our superb readers, wonderful Musicians and Choir, Mrs Cooper and Mr Chiappetta and the College Community for contributing and making this a magnificent College celebration.
