Sister Louise McKeogh FMA visits St Andrews College

Sister Louise Caritas

Focused on the theme Food for Life, Sister Louise McKeogh FMA, Parramatta Diocesan Director for Caritas/Social Justice visited our Senior Campus on the 13th of March. During her address Sister Louise spoke about the 2015 Caritas Australia Project Compassion Appeal – one of Australia’s largest humanitarian fundraising and awareness raising campaigns.

This year, Project Compassion focuses on the ways in which Caritas Australia is working with partners around the world to empower vulnerable communities to establish sustainable food sources and develop income streams for life.

Sister Louise highlighted the very real and lasting change that Project Compassion has made through Caritas and commented that, “every individual, school, parish or community that embraces Project Compassion makes an enormous difference.” She also stressed the importance of raising awareness in Australia on global food issues and said “It is thanks to the kindness of community supporters in Australia that Caritas has been able to work alongside many global communities including Asia, Africa, the Pacific, Latin America and with First Australians.”

We are enormously grateful for Sister Louise’s visit. We gained much insight and understanding in relation to Caritas’ ultimate goal of
