Sylvia Musel wins Fencing Bronze Medal

Sylvia Musel represented St Andrews College at the 2016 NSW Roberta Nutt Schools Championships on the 22nd of February at the NSW Fencing Association Sports Centre at Marrickville. Sylvia began the 2016 season winning Bronze in the Under 15 Sabre.

At the completion of the 2015 season Sylvia was ranked first in NSW Under 13 Girls Sabre age category as a result of her achievements in various competitions. She won Gold in the NSW Roberta Nutt Schools Championships. Sylvia competed in May were she won Gold, in June she won Bronze and in August she won Silver.

In July last year Sylvia was the recipient of the Blacktown Junior Sportsperson of the Month. Sylvia won Gold in the 2015 Norse Beach Schools U13 Sabre Individuals in September and Bronze in the 2015 Koala Mini Challenge U13 Girls Sabre in November.

Also in November Sylvia represented NSW in the 2015 International Friendship Cup U13 Girls Sabre Team winning Silver.

To encourages more students to try fencing St Andrews College funded four sets of fencing equipment for students wanting to practise fencing and represent the College in competitions. To find out more about this exciting sport and to cross swords with Sylvia we invite boys and girls to our fencing training sessions which are held each Tuesday and Friday from 6pm to 8pm in the Holy Family Hall on the Junior Campus.
