Winter Appeal

Term 2 the Vinnie’s Group ran the annual Winter Appeal toiletries drive in order to help those in need during this difficult season.

As many Australians brace themselves for the colder months of the year, many people turn to Vinnie’s to help them cover the costs of energy bills, food and clothing. It is during this time that we need to step up and help St Vincent de Paul Society rebuild lives.

Here at St Andrews College we ran the toiletries drive as a way of following Christ’s example and helping those in their time of need. These toiletries will ease the pressure as families struggle to supply essential items such as food and bills. Hygiene products that we take for granted every day enable families to keep their dignity and also become ready each day for school, work and possibly job interviews.

Over the term we asked all students to do their part by bringing in different products, and we were overwhelmed by the amount of items that were donated. Thank you so much to each student that went above and beyond to bring in these essential items that will mean so much to people that are struggling in our local area.

Next term Vinnie’s will also be running a blanket and jumper drive where we will ask students to donate any spare jumpers, blankets, beanies and scarves that we can then give to the St Vincent de Paul Society so that they can help the many people who are facing homelessness and spending every cold night out in the streets.

Thank you to all parents, students and teachers who generously donated items to our Winter Appeal and we ask you to keep those in need in your thoughts and prayers throughout these cold months.
