On Monday the 11th of March, Year 7 of St Andrews College boarded the buses to go to the Collaroy Centre for camp. We arrived at the Centre and everyone was so excited and full of joy to begin our journey on Year 7 Camp. When we got there we were introduced to our camp leader and rules of the Collaroy Centre. We were shown to the amphitheatre and we were taken to our first activity.

There was so many activities for us to do during the day like archery, drop pole, giant swing, kayaking, rock climbing, flying fox, beach games and laser tag.

Some people were afraid of drop pole but everyone had a go and faced their fear. In Group 10 on the drop pole, Isabella and Brooke went first and they had no idea what to expect.

After they had faced it once they loved it and wanted to do it again, which most people had the same reaction. Some people only went halfway but they still went up and had a go.

Kayaking was so much fun, we went down to Narrabeen River. We could either go on a stand up paddle board, a double kayak, or you could go in a single kayak. Ava even swapped kayaks with Holly in the middle of the lake. We also saw lots of people falling off the stand up paddle boards! It was so much fun and everyone’s shoes were soaking wet. Some people were jumping in the water out of their kayak’s and splashing each other.

The water was very refreshing and cooling on the hot afternoon and no one wanted to get out.

After dinner we got free time on the oval which was super fun. We were doing things like gymnastics, soccer and basketball. The talent quest was such a great opportunity to see everyone’s talents. People were singing and beatboxing and everyone was cheering each other on. Once everyone showed their talents we voted for the winners. Everyone went and stood up the front while our peers voted. The winners received a bar of chocolate, then the disco began. Everyone was very energetic and screaming at the top of their lungs. We did  La Macarena and The Nutbush and we were all having a good time. There was lots of music with lots of people dancing and no one could hear themselves think.

On our second day most people had beach games and we thought it was the most fun and the best activity! We walked to the beach from the centre and there was lots of fun beach games to do and Groups 8, 9 and 10 got to swim in the water and some kids even went in with their normal clothes on! Almost everyone was in the water cooling off.

Some people were playing on the sand making sand castles and others were burying themselves in the sand. One of my peers Zahra was playing volleyball and other sporty beach games. When we got out everyone was soaking wet, so we had to get changed for the bus ride home.

In conclusion, camp was so much fun, we got to meet lots of new people, try new things, and face our fears, especially on heights!

The Year 7 camp was held at the Collaroy Centre and was one of the best things in 2019 so far. The good things about camp were the activities and being in our cabins. The activities that I enjoyed the most was Kayaking, the flying fox and rock climbing because they were fun and challenging. If I had to choose which was the best, it would be the flying fox.

In my opinion, there was nothing bad at camp because the food was pretty good, the site and the activities were really good, the cabins were clean and wonderful.

The activities that I did was kayaking, beach activities, flying fox, archery and rock climbing. All of these activities were fun and challenging.

I got along with others by helping them, respecting my peers and also by cheering them on. This taught me to get along with others even if they are not my friend.

I overcame my fears by challenging myself, getting out of my comfort zone and also by trying my best in each activity. This taught me to try my best and to overcome my fears.

I would love to go there again.
