Diocesan ACBC Social Justice Essay Competition
CEDP in partnership with the Social Justice Office would like to invite the participation of Year 9 students and their teachers in The Inaugural Bishop's Social Justice Prize Essay Competitions. Each of our Year 9 students are participating in the the competition.
The Statement for 2015-2016 is entitled, For Those Who've Come Across the Seas
. This document, with an introduction by Bishop Vincent Long Van Nguyen OFMConv DD, was developed in response to the longstanding divisions in Australian society over asylum seekers, particularly those who have arrived by sea.
Year 9 students are asked to use this Statement as the basis of an essay response to the following question:
What should an Australian ‘face of mercy’ look like to a refugee arriving in our country?
