On the 6th of March Justine Custodio and Zena Marroun was invited to celebrate International Women’s Day at Parliament of NSW by attending a Young Women’s Leadership Seminar.
There were young women representing their schools from as far as the south coast of NSW to the Queensland border and as far west as Orange.
The aim of the seminar was to discuss concepts and definitions of leadership; issues that might affect women in leadership roles; and provide the opportunity to meet a variety of inspiring women leaders. After visiting the Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council, Justine and Zena had the pleasure of participating in a discussion panel with women members of parliament – Honourable Jennifer Gardiner, Honourable Catherine Cusick and Honourable Carmel Tebbutt.
The issues discussed ranged from the highlights to the lowlights of being a female in parliament, being leaders of the community and striving to ensure the numbers of female leaders continue to grow. It was such an inspiring day and a pleasure to hear and see so many strong and confident future leaders.
