The Vinnies Van provides friendship, compassion and dignity to those experiencing homelessness and social isolation in the Mount Druitt and Parramatta areas. It also provides food and referral. It operates 364 days per year and provided 8,790 meals last year.
As part of our Pastoral program, Teachers and Students volunteer their time one evening a month to provide assistance and support to the Vinnie‘s Van Program.
Anyone can approach the Vinnies Van when they see it at Mount Druitt or Parramatta. They provide a non-judgmental service and will not refuse assistance to anyone who approaches the Vinnies Van. They especially encourage people who are living on the streets or in overcrowded or insecure accommodation to access the service. The service is provided free of charge to all they assist.
To become a volunteer of Vinnies Van you must be 16 years of age and over and available to attend induction training upon commencement. Students and Teachers complete the induction at school.
Vinnies would love you to support the service through donations of blankets (micro-fiber/polar fleece) or toiletries. These items can be donated to the school as part of our Vinnies Program.
