SPORT

Sport at St Andrews College provides students with a wide range of experiences and opportunities.


It offers constructive and positive pathways, where the willingness to be actively and practically involved is just as important as the final results. Sport is a vehicle which is used to develop physical and social skills, and is also an active contributor in the nurturing of character development and sportsmanship.



Thursday Sport

Each Thursday afternoon, students in Years 7 – 10 participate in Sports & Activities. It allows students the opportunity to get some exercise, to have fun and to experience different challenges. St Andrews offers students a wide range of sports, such as aerobics, dance, fitness games, gridiron, martial arts, oz tag, soccer, swimming, ten pin bowling, tennis, ultimate frisbee and volleyball.  Some sports are held at school, while others are located at outside venues. If students travel to an outside venue, they always return to school and are dismissed from the College.

Students do not choose their sport. Instead, we use a rotation system that allows everyone the chance to try all the different sports. Each rotation lasts for five weeks. Sport & Activities is an important part of each student’s education, and we expect all students to participate. We ask that appointments and other such activities are not made during this time. The Sports Coordinator organises Thursday Sport and can be contacted for all enquiries about our program.



Representative Sport

Representative Sport is available throughout the year for sports such as:

  • baseball
  • basketball
  • cricket
  • netball
  • rugby league
  • rugby union
  • soccer
  • softball
  • touch football
  • volleyball.

Students need to tryout to be selected for all representative sports.
