This year, a record number of 79,679 students are enrolled in Higher School Certificate (HSC) courses with more than 2,800 from the Parramatta diocese. The HSC is the highest education achievement in secondary education in NSW, with the written exams accounting for up to 50 per cent of most students’ final results.

The 2014 HSC written exams commence Monday 13 October with all students sitting English Paper 1. Final exams will take place on Thursday 7 November with all results to be released 17 December.

In a special video message to Year 12 students, Executive Director of Schools, Greg Whitby wished them the best in their final exams and encouraged them to draw on what they have learnt in their Catholic schooling to make a difference in the world

‘The world is out there for change, it is not a place to retreat from,’ Greg said.  ‘You can be an agent for change, you can be the hope in the world and you can be the beacon because you have had a great Catholic schooling.’

‘I thank the teachers who have looked after you. I thank the parents who have given us the opportunity to educate you and I want you to go out and be proud that you have had a Catholic Education in the Diocese of Parramatta,’ he said.

Best wishes and good luck to all of our HSC students.
