On Friday the 6th of March four Year 12 students Sarah Bulloch, Rachel Berry, Monique Mollica and Ashleigh Zarb and Hospitality Teacher Mr Javier Araujo were amazed at the newly refurbished Hotel Management Institute located in Medlow Bath.

There were stunning views and gorgeous restaurants, cafe, retail shop and function facilities.

The Hotel offers students great opportunities to work, study and live within the Hotel.

The students conducted themselves eloquently and were very eager to immerse themselves in the competition that included a marketing plan, workflow and an original and innovative dish.

Day Two - Cook Off
On Friday the 13th of March the students and Mr Araujo visited McCarthy Trade Training Centre for the HMI Cook Off. The students firstly need to be congratulated on a job well done. They competed against seven other schools from both the Public and Catholic sectors.

Their task was to create and present a powerpoint presentation promoting the Hotel Management Institute, its five star facilities and the training program they offer to young Australians wishing to enter the Hospitality industry.

Secondly, the students had to use their attuned skills and deal with an irate customer while keeping calm and collected. This was a particularly difficult task as it was a real life scenario.

The final task was the cook off, where both teams handled themselves exceptionally well under pressure.

St Andrews College took 3rd place with Ashleigh's and Rachel's gorgeous ''Pan roasted barramundi served on turmeric spiced potatoes tossed in a dill, chive and parsley butter sauce''. The girls served the dish with green beans and a snow pea garnish.
