On Wednesday the 18th of November our Year 12 Drama students, along with students from Toongabbie Christian College and Doonside Technology High School participated in a workshop run by Illuminate Education.
The workshop focused on the Year 12 Drama student’s current text Neighbourhood Watch, which is part of their HSC studies on Contemporary Australian Theatre Practice.
As part of their HSC studies students need to see productions of plays being studied or participate in workshops, which can then be used as part of their essay writing discussion. The workshop was also vital to assist them with upcoming assessment tasks. Students were given further insights into the text through watching a recording of a previous production.
The students then workshopped key scenes or moments with the text. By working collaboratively, with each other and the students from Toongabbie Christian College and Doonside Technology High School; students gained extensive skills and knowledge to succeed in their HSC.
Our host,Toongabbie Christian College were very welcoming. We are grateful for their invitation as this meant that the cost of the workshop was accessible.
Our thanks also go to Mr Johnson and Mr McLeod for driving the bus.
Belvoir Street Theatre, Surry Hills
Earlier in the term, Year 12 Drama and VET Entertainment students were treated to a free visit to the Belvoir Street Theatre in Surry Hills to see Ivanov.
For many of our students this was the first time they had experienced live theatre.
Students particularly enjoyed the Question and Answer session at the end of the play with John Bell and John Howard.
